Pulse, export and staple convenience food: market analysis in West Africa

The recent expansion of trade measures across countries in sub-Saharan Africa provides market opportunities for the agri-food sector. However, price signals and changes domestic regional continental markets are a factor boosting success performance these markets. Examining commodity adjustments to shocks is essential insights boost performance. Using prominent food categories agricultural sector this region, study examines dynamics between pulses, exports, other staple convenience food. Spatial analysis evaluates inter-dependencies using vector error correction model. findings suggest heterogeneous effects commodities horizontally vertically value-added product forms chain. In intra-regional markets, transmission about as high while extent inter-regional varies by niche on value Tailored development policies can better overall functioning convergence well integration expansion.
